80-Year-Old Grandpa Builds A Dog Train To Take Rescued Dogs On Adventures Twice A Week

Eugene Bostick may just be the coolest 80-year-old ever. After retiring 15 years ago, he began a new venture which is possibly his most impactful work yet.

Shortly after his retirement, he built his very own train to take stray dogs on small adventures around the neighbourhood and surrounding woods. He lives in neighborhood in Texas a street where people come to abandon their dogs. The dogs were left to fend for themselves.

This is when Eugene, and his brother, stepped up!
“We started feeding these abandoned animals, letting them in, taking them to the vet to get them s.payed and neu-tered. We made a place for dog rescues to live,” Eugene said

Then, Eugene saw a guy with a tractor.

“One day I was out and I seen this guy with a tractor who attached these carts to pull rocks. I thought, ‘Dang, that would do for a dog train. I’m a pretty good welder, so I took these plastic barrels with holes cut in them, and put wheels under them and tied them together. I started out with my tractor… I’d put 4-5 dogs in there and take them riding. All of a sudden, a couple more dogs showed up. I said, ‘Oh, that’s not enough room’ – and that’s when I came up with THAT. Whenever these adorable dogs hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited.” he said
Eugene takes the dogs twice a week, at least!

He enjoys conducting the dog train, though he’s unsure of how much longer it will run.

“I’m getting up in age. I’m 80 now, so I suppose it can’t last too much longer, but I’ll keep it going as long as I canThe dogs have a great time. They just really enjoy it.” he said
