One of the first restaurants on Roosevelt Row is closing after 20 years in downtown Phoenix

After nearly 20 years on downtown Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row, Carly’s Bistro is closing.

A post on Carly’s Instagram account announced the closure: “It is with tremendous love and gratitude for our community and incredible staff we are announcing that Carly’s will be closing permanently May 3rd after nearly 20 years in business on our beloved corner of Roosevelt and 2nd Streets.”

Carla Logan and her husband, John, opened Carly’s in 2005, and it was one of the only restaurants in the Roosevelt Row district at the time.

Longtime fans react to the news

The response on Instagram to the announcement was a mixture of appreciation and sadness.

“I love you guys,” one post reads. “Carlys forever. C&J y’all are legends.”

“This gave me chills,” another says. “Love you Carla + Carly’s team and all the amazing community nights you gave us. It was truly a special place in time; for so many of us. You were there! Carly’s forever!”
The Carly’s post, which doesn’t explain the reason for closing, was appreciative and optimistic.

“We are humbled by the contributions of our staff, past and present, and by the loyalty and love shown to us over the years by the Phoenix community,” it says. “As we come full circle on our Journey we look forward with excitement to see what the next small business will bring! More to come! In the meantime please stop by and say hello and enjoy your favourites from Carly’s!”
