Dog thrown in the trash rescued by sanitation workers — now he has a happy ending

It’s truly unbelievable how some people treat their dogs. Some pets are literally treated like garbage, thrown away with the trash.

That was the sad story for a dog named Moe-Moe, but after being rescued by sanitation workers he’s now getting a second chance.

According to the Hoke County Animal Shelter, in Raeford, North Carolina, a 4.5-year-old American bulldog mix named Moe-Moe was found abandoned in a kennel on the side of the road, “literally put out with the trash.”

Local sanitation workers making their routine trash pickups saw Moe-Moe, and thankfully intervened. They cared for the discarded dog, providing him ice water, while they waited for animal control to arrive.

Moe-Moe was taken in and placed up for adoption. According to the shelter, they were able to get some information on the dog’s background: in a previous home (not the one that abandoned him) he lived with three other dogs and “did great” with children, making him perfectly suited for any new home.

“He’s housebroken, walks great on leash, is already neutered and will have a reduced adoption fee,” Hoke County Animal Shelter wrote. “He’s such a sweetheart and I can’t imagine what he’s feeling right now.”

Thankfully, Moe-Moe’s story has a happy ending. Yesterday, days after he was found abandoned, the shelter announced that Moe-Moe has been adopted!

After being heartlessly locked in a kennel and left for dead, Moe-Moe is now enjoying his love and freedom in the home he deserves.

“He’s already enjoying his big beautiful backyard and his new home,” the shelter wrote. “Thank you to everyone who shared his story and to all the folks that helped him on this journey and especially to his new sweet family.”

It’s heartbreaking that Moe-Moe was thrown out so heartlessly, but we’re so glad to see he’s found a loving new home! Thank you to everyone who rescued him!
