A woman’s car that vanished with her daughter 23 years ago has been found

Authorities said this week that human remains were found inside the car of a woman who went missing with her kid in Arkansas 23 years ago.

According to a statement from the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Adventures With Purpose, a nonprofit group devoted to resolving cold cases nationwide, located Samantha Jean Hopper’s car on Tuesday in eight feet of water.

In 1998, Hopper was reported missing on September 11th.

According to reports, Samantha was on her way to Little Rock to drop off her daughter Courtney Holt before going to a performance, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. “But we never found Samantha, her daughter, or her blue Ford Tempo.”

The car was surrounded by eight feet of water when the charitable organization discovered it. The human remains in the automobile will be sent for DNA testing to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock, according to the police.

The agency said: “The Pope County Sheriff’s Office wishes to convey its sincere condolences to the families of Samantha Hopper and Courtney Holt, and we are grateful to have played a small role in bringing this 23-year-old case to a close.”

Hopper’s daughter Dezarea Hopper said on a memorial website that her mother was nine months pregnant when she disappeared. At the time, Dezarea’s sister was around 2 years old. According to Dezarea, finding their bodies was a “relief.”

According to a statement from Adventures With Purpose, Samantha and her two infants have finally been taken home.
