Boy Calls 911 to Ask For Help with Math

Cops Soon Realize He Needs Real Help

Eight-year-old Ryan Crosby sat at the dining table, struggling with his math homework. The numbers seemed to mock him, and the house felt too quiet. Frustrated and overwhelmed, he remembered his mother’s advice: if he ever needed help, he could call 911. So, he did.

When the dispatcher answered, Ryan explained he needed help with his math homework. Initially thinking it was a prank, the dispatcher quickly realized something was wrong when Ryan revealed he was home alone. Concerned, she kept him on the line while dispatching officers to his location.

Upon arrival, the officers found Ryan alone and learned that his mother, Matilda, had not returned home after leaving for a visit. They traced her phone signal to an abandoned mill and soon discovered her unconscious in her car due to heat exhaustion. Thanks to Ryan’s call, they were able to get her the help she needed.

Later that night, Matilda returned home with an officer, and Ryan ran to her, relieved and emotional. Matilda praised him for his quick thinking, acknowledging that his call had saved her life. Ryan’s bravery turned him into a local hero, serving as a reminder of the importance of seeking help in times of need.
