Regifted Cactus Reveals Unwanted Surprise

I received a plastic cactus figurine as a regift from a coworker. One night, as I was heading to bed, I accidentally kicked the cactus over and discovered a hidden spy camera inside it.

During a recent dinner, my friends Susan and Greg ordered an extravagant $200 worth of food, while I opted for just a $4 drink. When the bill arrived, Greg suggested splitting it among six people. I quickly pointed out that it should only be divided among three, as three of us hadn’t eaten anything. Dan, who had consumed about $50 worth of food, was taken aback when he found himself responsible for a staggering $146.98 bill.

Feeling frustrated, I left a $10 tip and walked out of the restaurant. The following day, I received texts from Greg and Susan, calling me an “AH” for not ordering food. Dan was also upset, claiming I had caused him unnecessary trouble. I tried to explain that Dan could have easily asked Susan and Greg to reimburse him for his meal, but he consistently enables their behavior, which only complicates things further.

I recognize that my actions may have seemed petty, but I’m genuinely tired of being pulled into their schemes. It feels like I’m often the one left to deal with the fallout of their decisions. I’ve tried to be accommodating in the past, but this time, I felt it was necessary to stand my ground. I believe that friendships should be built on mutual respect and fairness, and it’s frustrating when that balance is disrupted. I hope that by addressing this situation, I can encourage more equitable behavior in our group dynamics moving forward. Ultimately, I want to foster a healthier environment where everyone feels responsible for their choices, rather than being dragged into someone else’s financial mismanagement.
