Angelina’s Mexican Restaurant has permanently closed the doors at its Wyandotte location
The restaurant announced on Facebook that Nov. 4 would be its last day. As it turned out, they had excess inventory remaining so the restaurant opened for one additional day for carryout orders only.
“With great sadness, we hate to announce the closing of our beloved Wyandotte store after 13 great years,” the restaurant stated in a Facebook post. “Unfortunately you need more than good food and great service to stay in business. Thank you to all of (our) loyal customers through the years.”
The feeling was definitely mutual for the loyal customers the restaurant referred to in its closure announcement, many of whom posted replies stating how much they’re going to miss it.
“I am so very sad to hear this!” was the reply from one customer. “Not only will we miss the best Mexican cuisine around, we will miss the outstanding staff. Wishing you the best.”
Dozens of other comments echoed those sentiments, with some people suggesting that the restaurant find another nearby location to set up shop.
Joe’s Hamburgers, 3041 Biddle Ave., which is next door to Angelina’s, posted on its Facebook page how sad they are that they lost their neighbor.
“We will miss you, our neighbor and friends,” the post stated. “Thank you for the great food and relationships you’ve provided over the years! Much love to Angelina’s.”
A message left for Angelina’s owner seeking reasons why the restaurant closed was not returned.
The restaurant’s final Facebook post appeared to leave open the possibility of coming back at some point in the future.
“The past couple of weeks have been a real testament of the hard work and love I have put in our community,” the owner stated. “We are now officially closed and I pray that this is a see you later. Love U all — Lola.”
Fortunately for its loyal customers, Angelina’s still has two other restaurants in Downriver cities.
