9-year-old Serabi Medina was riding her scooter on the sidewalk while her father talked to three of his friend. One of his friends then gave some money to the little girl so she could buy ice cream for herself.
Documents share that Medina bought ice cream for herself and her dad. A few minutes later, shots rang out in the area prompting Serabi’s dad to tell her to go inside their home.
According to reports, soon after, a neighbor named Michael Goodman, who lived across the street, appeared, allegedly holding a firearm. According to witness statements, Serabi’s father asked 43-year-old Goodman what he was doing and was ignored.
Goodman then allegedly followed 9-year-old Serabi in the vestibule of her building. Her father ran after them when he saw Goodman point his gun at the little girl and shoot her in the head.
The father then tackled Goodman, which led to them falling to the floor and the gun being discharged and hitting Goodman in the eye.
According to reports, a receipt for a 9mm firearm was found. Authorities are believed to have recovered three casings that match the gun.
Goodman was arrested after being transported to the hospital. He is being held on charges of first-degree murder. He is going to be held without bail. A picture of Goodman with an obvious injury to his eye was released by the authorities.
