The ‘Sᴀᴅᴅᴇsᴛ Dog In The Wᴏʀʟᴅ’ Is Hᴏᴍᴇʟᴇss Again And Might Be Pᴜᴛ To Sʟᴇᴇᴘ If No One Aᴅᴏᴘᴛs Her Soon
The little dog known as, the sᴀᴅᴅᴇsᴛ dog in the ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ is named Lana. She is ʜᴏᴍᴇʟᴇss again and at ʀɪsᴋ of being put to sʟᴇᴇᴘ if she doesn’t find someone to take care of her. Lana’s plight touched the hearts of millions of dog lovers in 2015 after a photo of her looking depressed in her kennel when her ꜰᴏsᴛᴇʀfamily returned her went viral.
Lana was the ʀᴜɴᴛ of the ʟɪᴛᴛᴇʀ when she was born in Mexico. She often had to ᴄᴏᴍᴘᴇᴛᴇ with her siblings for food. Then she was brought to Toronto, Canada, so she could have a chance at having a real home. Lana went from ꜰᴏsᴛᴇʀhome to ꜰᴏsᴛᴇʀhome. When she was 5 months old, it seemed like she finally found her forever family. Lana seemed to be an enthusiastic and loving addition to the home. But one day, when she was being fed, Lana sɴᴀᴘᴘᴇᴅ at the mom. Her memories of being the ʀᴜɴᴛ of the ʟɪᴛᴛᴇʀ may have made her protective of her food. The family, with young kids, grew nervous — and they brought Lana back to the sʜᴇʟᴛᴇʀ. And that’s when the photo of total dejection was taken. It was like her ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ shut down.
In January 2016 Lana was once again taken home by a family who planned to love and care for her for the rest of her days. But the lonely pooch has now been returned to the animal ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ sʜᴇʟᴛᴇʀ for the third time. She ꜰᴀᴄᴇs being ᴇᴜᴛʜᴀɴɪᴢᴇᴅ on May 20, just after her third birthday, if nobody can offer her a home. Nᴏɴ-ᴘʀᴏꜰɪᴛƦᴇsᴄᴜᴇ Dogs Match turned to Facebook in a ᴅᴇsᴘᴇʀᴀᴛᴇ ᴀᴛᴛᴇᴍᴘᴛ to find her real ‘forever home’. They wrote: “May 14 is Lana’s birthday, she will be three. Please help find her a ꜰᴏsᴛᴇʀor forever home. Lana only has until May 20th.” She is currently staying at an overcrowded ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ centre that will soon have no room to house her. But she still needs to find the person patient and caring enough to help her learn to trust.
Brenda Dobranski, founder of Ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ Dogs Match said:” Lana’s adoption did not work out because people want a dog they can pet and play with. Lana is a sɪʟʟʏ fun girl but she is not the type of dog that will let you give belly rubs to and sʟᴇᴇᴘ in bed with. She loves to have a job. The best environment for Lana would be a farm where she can be outside most of the time. She loves to be outside no matter what the weather. Lana loves to be part of whatever is going on but not in ‘ᴛɪɢʜᴛ’ quarters.”
She added:” We need to keep Lana’s happiness and well being at the forefront. It is not fair for her to have to keep moving around. She just settles and becomes accepting only to be up rooted again. Every time she moves her progress is set back. The best family for her would be a mature couple or person that has the time, patience, determination and commitment to help her become more confident. She is sweet and sɪʟʟʏ, that is hard-wired into her character.
She is ᴛɪᴍɪᴅ, wary of sᴛʀᴀɴɢᴇʀs only at first. When she is not around the people she trusts, she has the tendency to shut down or become very hesitant. Lana also loves to be around other dogs, so someone willing to arrange playdates with canine neighbors would be ideal. I am not sure what will happen to Lana on May 20. Unfortunately, ᴇᴜᴛʜᴀɴᴀsɪᴀ is an option, but with all the time and support and money that has been offered to Lana I don’t even want to think about it.”
