Bride Dumped Fiance At The Altar After Receiving Strange Phone Call
It was the morning of the wedding, and Emma was getting ready to walk down the aisle. She had spent months planning every detail of the perfect day, from the flowers to the cake to the dress. But as she stood in front of the mirror, putting on her makeup, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
She had been dating her fiancé, David, for two years, and she loved him deeply. But there had always been a certain distance between them, a sense that he was holding something back. Emma had tried to ignore it, thinking that maybe it was just her own insecurities playing tricks on her.
But then, just hours before the wedding, everything came crashing down. Emma’s phone rang, and she saw that it was David’s number. When she answered, she heard a voice that she had never heard before, a woman’s voice, asking for David.
The moment the woman introduced herself and told her who she was, it was as if Emma’s life fell apart. She thought back about all the good times she’d had with David. From the moment they started dating to the moment he got down on one knee to ask her to marry him. He had always been so sweet to her. She remembered him promising her a life filled with love, honesty, and commitment. But now, as she listened to the woman on the other end of the line, she realized that he had been lying to her all along.
Emma’s hands trembled as she held the phone to her ear. She wanted to ask the woman more questions, but her throat felt dry, and her voice failed her. Tears welled up in her eyes as she slowly put the phone down, realizing that her dream of a perfect wedding and a perfect life with David was over.
Emma’s heart sank when she realized it was the woman she had seen in a photo on David’s phone. A woman he had always claimed was just an old friend. But now, as she listened to the woman’s words, she realized the truth: David had been leading a double life.
Emma felt like the ground had opened up beneath her feet. All the plans, all the excitement, all the love she had felt for David just moments ago evaporated into thin air. She felt a sense of betrayal and hurt that she had never experienced before.
She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. She knew that she had to confront David, but she didn’t know how to do it. Should she call off the wedding? Should she go through with it and deal with the aftermath later? She didn’t know what to do.
As she stood there, lost in thought, her bridesmaids burst into the room, chattering excitedly about the ceremony that was about to begin. Emma tried to put on a brave face, but her mind was racing. She couldn’t go through with the wedding knowing what she now knew, but she didn’t want to disappoint everyone who had come to celebrate with her.
She regretted the fact that she didn’t ask anything back. She still had so many questions about this big secret that David had kept for her. She needed to find out what was going on all this time and why he had kept this secret for her. The problem was that she wasn’t going to see him anymore until the altar.
Emma took a deep breath and tried to push her doubts and questions aside. She knew that she couldn’t go through with the wedding without talking to David first. She turned to her bridesmaids and asked for a few minutes alone to collect her thoughts.
Once she was alone, Emma dialed David’s number. He didn’t answer. She tried again, but it went straight to voicemail. Panic started to set in as she realized that he might be avoiding her. Or was he with the woman? After all, she was the one who called him with his number. She didn’t know what to do. Should she try to find him? Should she just go through with the wedding and deal with everything later?
As Emma stood there, lost in thought, there was a knock on the door. It was David’s best friend, Jake. He had come to check on Emma and see how she was doing. Emma felt a wave of relief wash over her. At least she had someone to talk to.
Jake could see that Emma was upset, and he asked her what was wrong. Emma hesitated at first, but then she told him everything. She told him about the woman on the phone and how she had discovered David’s secret. Jake listened intently, and when she finished, he put his hand on her shoulder. “I’m so sorry, Emma,” he said. “I had no idea.” Emma was confused. “What do you mean?” she asked.
Jake took a deep breath. He smiled nervously while looking somewhere in the distance. “David and I have been friends since childhood,” he said. “But I haven’t seen him in a while. I didn’t know he was keeping a secret from you. But there’s something else you should know.”
Emma’s heart sank. She didn’t know if she could take any more bad news. “What is it?” she asked.
“David’s been struggling with some personal issues,” Jake said. “I don’t want to go into details, but I think that’s why he’s been distant. He’s been trying to deal with things on his own, but he’s not doing a very good job of it.”
Emma felt a mix of emotions. On the one hand, she felt angry and hurt that David had kept this from her. On the other hand, she felt a sense of relief that there might be an explanation for his behavior. “I don’t know what to do,” Emma said, tears streaming down her face.
Jake put his arm around her. “I’m here for you,” he said. “We’ll figure this out together.” Emma took a deep breath and wiped her tears away. She knew that she couldn’t go through with the wedding without talking to David first. She had to find him and confront him about everything.
She pulled herself together and decided to look for him. She no longer cared that he would see her in her wedding dress. The whole fairy tale was already over anyway. She didn’t even know if she wanted to go through with the wedding, so she had nothing to lose.
Emma looked in the mirror and wiped her tears from her cheeks. She took a deep breath and headed for the door. But just as she was about to open the door. She heard knocking. Her heart began to beat faster as she opened the door. Would it be David?
When she opened the door her expression changed from hopeful to disappointed. It wasn’t David. It was her father. The moment she saw her father look at her with a concerned and searching look, she realized that he could read everything from her face. He knew something was wrong.
Emma’s head was working overtime. She didn’t know what to do. Should she be honest and confess everything or did she keep it to herself until she got answers? Her father wrapped her in his arms and gave her a big hug. “What’s wrong girl?”, he asked her. Emma swallowed and tried her best to hold back her tears. She knew if she told him, everything would change…
Her father had always disliked David. He had warned Emma several times and told her David was not to be trusted. Unfortunately, Emma was stubborn and wouldn’t listen. She decided to continue the relationship and as time progressed, her father finally started to accept him.
He even invited him to his weekend fishing trips. Emma was overjoyed and everything had finally fallen into place. Or at least that’s what she thought… Because maybe her father was right all along?
Emma was weighing and weighing what to do. Until suddenly she had no more time to think. The door opened, it was her bridesmaids who told her that the opening song was starting and that they would already start walking if she was ready? Ready?! She was anything but ready.
Her father looked at her and took her hand. “It’s just nerves girl, everything will be fine,” he said in his reassuring soft voice. “You know I have been hard on David for a long time, but he’s a good kid and I am more than happy to give you away today”, he smiled. Emma looked at him and felt so loved and yet so sad. She didn’t want to ruin the perfect picture of his son in law. Then the music started playing.
She could hear the song “All of Me” playing. The song she and David listened to endlessly in days leading up to the wedding day. The song seemed perfect for them and it had already brought back such beautiful memories for her. She had fantasized about being led to the altar to this song, where David waited for her with a loving look in his eyes.
But now she suddenly doubted everything. What did this actually mean to him? Was everything real or had the feeling always been one-sided? Numb with emotion, she let her father take herself to the altar. She felt alienated from her body and the situation around her. Everything happened in a blur. It was as if she saw herself walking from a distance but was not aware of it. Like it was another person walking down the aisle there, but it was really her.
Emma stared dazedly throughout the ceremony. She could hear the wedding officiant talking but the words didn’t sink in. The guests didn’t seem to notice and looked overjoyed at the apparently happy couple. If only they knew what was really going on, they wouldn’t be happy at all.
Meanwhile, David looked at her with a confused and searching look. He could feel something was off and he was getting nervous. “Ha! Good for you”. Is what went through Emma’s mind. “What were you thinking? Did you really think that you would never get caught and could play the lucky couple while walking around with a big scandalous secret?”.
Before she knew it, the wedding officiant was suddenly at the part where they had to say yes. The wedding official apparently had every confidence in it because he jokingly asked the guests if anyone had any objections to this marriage. David looked at the wedding official overjoyed and squeezed Emma’s hands gently.
At that moment it was as if Emma was there again and she woke up from some bad dream. This was her moment when she could do something about it, she had to act quickly. Emma cleared her throat and looked into the crowd. Then she raised her hand.
The guests abruptly stopped laughing and looked at her in surprise. Within seconds, their expressions went from happy to scared. What was she going to say? When Emma finally began to talk, the whole crowd got quiet.”You know,” Emma began her story. “I always thought of David as the ideal man”, “He is the one who could do nothing wrong and seemed to be the perfect partner”. “It almost seems like a story out of a movie right?”, “The poor foster child didn’t have anyone growing up, overcame his difficulties, fell in love and got married to live happily ever after…”.
Emma paused and looked him straight in the eye. His eyes darted in all directions, looking for a way out of this misery. But there was no way out, this confrontation was going to happen anyway. Everyone was going to see his true colors today.
“Anyway, I’ll spare you guys the details,” Emma said, suddenly much more confident. “A perfect partner huh?”, she looked at David again. “No secrets you said?”, “Well I guess that was all one big fat lie, because apparently we forgot to invite a very important guest”. Emma looked at David, his face was sweaty and he was nervously picking at his tie. Red stress marks appeared on his neck.
“Maybe we should call her?” Emma said. She didn’t think twice and grabbed her phone. “Poor little foster boy…”, she said while dialing the number. It didn’t take long until the woman on the other side of the line picked up the phone. “Hello Katie”, Emma said with full confidence. Then she continued and when she said the following words, the crowd gasped…
“Isn’t it crazy how David forgot to invite the most important woman in his life to his wedding?”. People looked at her in shock, then they looked at David who just stood there in shock. He opened his mouth to say something but then closed it again. People started whispering and looked at him in disgust.
Emma decided to add even more fuel to the fire: “Don’t you want to be there when the person you love the most gets married?”, she said. When Kate answered her question, the already tense situation inflamed. “I’m already here Emma…”, she said with a soft trembling voice.
Then a sudden commotion at the entrance caught everyone’s attention. A woman, disheveled and out of breath, burst into the ceremony, making a beeline for the bride and groom. Emma gasped and the guest murmured in shock as the woman walked towards David. “Who was this mysterious woman and what the heck was she doing?!”
Then David said something that shocked them even more: “Mom?!”. Emma’s eyes widened in surprise as she watched David embrace the woman, who must have been his mother. She couldn’t believe what was happening – this was not how she had imagined her wedding day.
The guests were whispering and exchanging curious glances as the commotion died down. David’s mother was a stranger to most of them, and they couldn’t help but wonder what her sudden appearance meant.
Emma’s mind was reeling as she watched David embrace the woman who had just burst into their wedding ceremony. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing – all this time, David had told her that his parents had died in a car accident and that he had grown up in foster care. But now, here was his mother, alive and well.
Emma felt a mix of emotions – confusion, anger, and hurt. She couldn’t understand why David would lie to her about something so significant. Had he been ashamed of her? Was she not good enough to meet his own family? Tears began to stream down her face as she struggled to make sense of it all.
She had always known that she wanted to marry someone who would fully accept and love her for who she was. When she realized that David wasn’t that person, she felt a deep sense of betrayal. In that moment, a wave of anger washed over her, and she turned to face him with fierce determination. Without a second thought, she snatched the wedding rings out of the official’s hands and hurled them at David’s face.
The guests gasped in shock, bracing themselves for what might come next. But instead of lashing out in rage, she took a deep breath and spoke the words that everyone had been dreading: “I can’t marry you, David. Not like this. Not when you can’t accept me for who I am.”
There was a stunned silence as her words sank in. Some guests looked sad, while others appeared relieved. But no one could deny the raw emotion and bravery in her words. Then David’s mother spoke up, asking Emma if she would please listen to her before making any rash decisions.
With nothing left to lose, Emma decided to accept David’s mother’s request and listen to what she had to say. Katie began to speak, telling Emma about David’s upbringing in a wealthy family. While it might seem like an ideal situation, it didn’t always work to his advantage.
Throughout his life, people had hung out with him for the wrong reasons, taking advantage of his wealth. Especially in relationships, he attracted women who were only interested in his money. When his father passed away, things got even worse. Women knew he would inherit a substantial amount of money, and they were desperately trying to marry him. David didn’t know their true intentions and began to struggle with himself and his feelings. He became increasingly depressed, avoiding social events and dating altogether.
That’s when his mother came up with a plan to hide their family’s wealth from David’s future girlfriends. When David met Emma, he pretended to be a foster child to test her intentions. Although it was extremely hard for him to lie to her, he knew this was necessary.
David told himself that lying to Emma was for a good cause, and that once they were married, he would tell her everything. He loved her deeply and couldn’t imagine a life without her. He met with his mother secretly and told her everything about Emma. Katie knew Emma was a good person and wanted to be present at the wedding. That’s why she called Emma, but it probably wasn’t the smartest move as she didn’t fully explain the situation.
Katie couldn’t wait to be her mother-in-law and begged Emma to see the good in the situation. She assured Emma that David had never loved anyone so much, and that it was mostly her fault that he had lied to her. David looked at Emma, tears streaming down his face. “I’m so sorry, Emma,” he said. “I never wanted to lie to you, but it was necessary. Please don’t leave me. I’ll do anything to make things right, and I promise to never lie to you again.”
At that moment, David and Emma were both in tears. Everything began to fall into place, and Emma was relieved to finally have an explanation. The man she loved so deeply was still a good person, even though he had lied to her. She knew it was for the better and that he had never intended to hurt her feelings. Emma couldn’t contain herself anymore and ran into his arms. “I love you so much,” she trembled.
Emma listened as David poured out his heart, and she began to understand. She realized that everyone had a past, and that sometimes, the truth was not so straightforward. She forgave David for his lies and embraced him, feeling a newfound sense of closeness and understanding.
David held Emma tightly, his arms around her as they both cried tears of relief and happiness. Katie smiled at the couple, happy to see that they had worked through their issues and were now closer than ever.
As they all hugged, Emma felt a sense of peace and contentment. She knew that the road ahead wouldn’t always be easy, but she was ready to face it with David by her side.
Over the next few weeks, David and Emma worked hard to rebuild their trust and strengthen their relationship. They talked about their hopes and dreams for the future and shared their deepest fears and insecurities.
Emma realized that their love was stronger than any lie or deception. She had learned to see David as a whole person, flaws and all, and had come to appreciate his resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
In the end, their wedding day had not turned out exactly as planned, but Emma knew that it had been the start of something beautiful. She was grateful for David’s mother’s unexpected appearance, as it had forced them to confront their past and work towards a better future.
As they exchanged their vows in a quiet ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family, Emma felt more confident than ever that they were meant to be together. She knew that their love was strong enough to withstand any obstacle, and that together, they could conquer anything.
