Arnold Schwarzenegger fills ‘giant pothole’ only to be told it wasn’t a pothole
Arnold Schwarzenegger may be The Terminator and seven-time Mr. Olympia, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t mess up every now and then.
The 75-year-old actor and retired professional bodybuilder took to Twitter to post a clip of him repairing what he called a “giant pothole” in Brentwood, California. This would have been reasonable to assume, with California seeing months of rain and 19,642 pothole repair service requests since the end of December, per NBC Los Angeles.
“Today, after the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go,” he tweeted.
In the clip, several men used various materials to fill the pothole, and at one point, a driver stops to thank Schwarzenegger, who was wearing wrap-around shades and a leather jacket, almost reminiscent of his character in The Terminator.

Unfortunately for the Austrian Oak – his well-intentioned actions may have been done in vain, as it turned out the pothole he terminated was actually not a pothole at all.
“This location is not a pothole. It’s a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCal Gas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May. As is the case with similar projects impacting City streets, SoCal Gas will be required to repair the area once their work is completed,” a spokesperson told NBC Los Angeles.
Though, according to the outlet, a spokesperson for Schwarzenegger said that local residents made many requests for repairs to the road since a series of winter storms in February and March, which apparently fell on deaf ears. Though, it’s unclear whether the pothole was scheduled for repair when the former Governor of California filled it.
Many netizens chose to comment on the pothole situation, with one person writing: “When it’s ‘active’ there’s a metal plate in place. It was a service trench that was likely not compacted properly and sunk after the rain and traffic.”

“If SoCalGas had a “service trench” it would have been taped off with a barricade around it. Second off, the original news reel said it was a concrete street, it’s asphalt. What Arnold’s using is an asphalt patch mix, and it should suitable for said repair,” someone else added.

Another person poked fun at the situation, especially at the fact that nothing was done about the pothole despite multiple complaints from Brentwood residents. “A thousand damage tires later.

Well whatever the case, if there’s any more potholes around, it’s certain that Arnold will be back.
