Popular Restaurant Announced To Close Its Doors Permanently
A highly-visible restaurant in Oakville has permanently shut down, but it hasn’t taken long for a new one to open in the same spot.
Wared Mediterranean Resto, located in Kerr Village, has closed after being open for about a year.
The restaurant, which opened officially June 29, 2023, offered Middle Eastern cuisine such as Lebanese kebabs, a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu.
It received a 3.9 out of five stars on Google with nearly 230 reviews
“Beautiful, colourful and joyful place. The food was fresh and delicious, and the portions were generous,” Wissam Ballout wrote. “The family who owns/runs the place makes you feel at home. Excellent service. Highly recommended.”
In its place is a new restaurant, with a new owner, called The Bloom Coffee Restaurant and Lounge, which opened last Friday (July 26).
It’s the second Bloom Coffee establishment in the GTA, with the other being in Mississauga.
Owner Omar Aljabri said the new spot offers a combination of Middle Eastern and Western fusion, with Yemeni and Saudi Arabian cuisine, burgers, coffee, tea and desserts, among other foods.
It has opened to positive reviews.
“Definitely will come back, very delicious food and desserts,” Hasan Rahmeh wrote.
“Amazing food, great service,” added Rafik Akef.
Wared opened shortly after Zucchini’s Cucina, an Italian-inspired eatery in Kerr Village known for its family-style dinners and reasonable pricing, shuttered its doors.
Zucchini’s Cucina stirred up controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic for allegedly not asking patrons to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and welcoming unvaccinated residents during a time when Ontario rules stated you couldn’t eat inside a restaurant without being vaccinated.
Management at Wared has not responded to requests for comment from Inside Halton on whether Wared will open at another location.
