Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi recently shared an interesting story about star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, which quickly caught the attention of cricket fans.
During an interview on a private television channel, Afridi explained that there was a time when he intentionally left Shaheen out of his playing XI. According to him, the decision was made to challenge the young pacer and motivate him to perform at a higher level.
Afridi said that although Shaheen was not selected for the match at that time, he was confident that the move would spark a strong reaction from the fast bowler and push him to prove his abilities.
The former captain added that some players respond positively when they face such situations. He believed Shaheen had the kind of competitive mindset that would not allow him to accept being left out easily.
Afridi also mentioned that he had already shared this plan with his daughter, saying that Shaheen would definitely demonstrate his talent whenever he got the chance to return to the field.
According to Afridi, he had previously witnessed Shaheen’s determination and fighting spirit, which made him believe that such challenges could inspire the pacer to deliver even better performances in the future.
