MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a massive cash reward for the national team following their victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

According to Indian media reports, the board has approved a prize of 131 crore Indian rupees for the players and support staff in recognition of their championship win.

The reward will be distributed among members of the squad as well as the coaching and support team for their contribution to the tournament success.

Earlier, in 2024, the Indian board had also announced 125 crore rupees as prize money when India lifted the T20 World Cup trophy under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

Apart from the board’s reward, the Indian team also received $2.34 million in prize money from the International Cricket Council for winning the global tournament.

It is worth mentioning that India secured the T20 World Cup 2026 title after defeating New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final, claiming the championship for the third time in history.
